A new contest is now open for those — writer, readers, teachers, and others — with an interest in stories for teen and adult beginning readers. With over 20 percent of US teens and adults lacking fundamental literacy skills, there simply isn’t enough compelling and accessible content out there.

Learning Disabilities, CAST, and Orca Book Publishers to launch Story
Share: The $50,000 writing contest to benefit teen and adult beginning
readers. Story Share seeks to inspire writers and educators
in the United States to author engaging stories with age-appropriate
characters and themes for readers of age 13+ who read at a beginning or
intermediate level.

The contest is open now through December 8, 2013. Winners will be
